Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)Main purpose of job:
This role will sit within the British Embassy's Consular Team and the jobholder will be responsible for supporting the team's activities across a wide portfolio of work in Consular guidance, administrative tasks, prevention activities, trend monitoring, and research and information development.
This includes management and updating of databases, supporting the communications strategy of the team, assistance in official visits and events, coordination of meetings and different logístical arrangements.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Support the daily revision, classification and action taking on the main mailbox of the Consular Team.
- Support the team with the arrangements of notarial/documentary service sessions and British Citizenship ceremonies.
- Support the Consular Team in the prevention project creation, development and management.
- Manage and keep uptodate databases, spreadsheets, Efiles, SharePoint and auditable records as requested.
- Help identify new contacts and stakeholders and suggest innovative ideas to design/update team's databases and internal documents (physical and digital).
- Work with the Consular Officer and the Vice Consul to ensure that the Honorary Consuls & Consular Agents, and other colleagues, occasionally conducting consular work, are trained and supported to deliver appropriate assistance.
- Support the team to advise and inform internal and external stakeholders on our wider consular priorities and intiniatives.
- Ensure the public facing areas are maintained and updated in line with consular guidance.
- Support the organization of internal and external events and meetings.
- Contribute to the team's prevention objectives, activities, intitiatives.
- Timely provide updated information according to specific requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have the legal status to live and work in Colombia.
- Availability of at least 6 months before their graduation date. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
- Currently enrolled in the last semesters of a university degree in Human/Social Sciences such as Social Work,
- Phycology, Law, Communication, Business Management, International Relations, International Business, or related fields.
- Strong IT skills (including knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Suite).
- Excellent teamwork and communications skills.
- Ability to work independently and interact and collaborate with different teams (collectively)
- Organisation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines.
- Good knowledge of current national and international affairs.
Language requirements:
Language:
Spanish and English
Level of language required:
Intermediate working knowledge English and Spanish (spoken and written) - between B1 and C1 (under the CEFR or equivalent).
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience- Good social skills.
- Customer Service Skills.
- Casework experience/dealing with vulnerable population.
- Experience on implementation of outreach or prevention campaigns.
- Experience in digital media, campaigns, media management and event organisation.

The British Embassy in Colombia has a flexible working policy.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
