This role will be part of the Global Services Finance team in the Enterprise & Employees Financial Services process area.

The Global Services Finance organization provides best-in-class, cost-effective financial services, and compliance—in a J&J way—to our Operating Companies around the world.


Position Summary
The position will be part of the Global HUB organization.

It is critical for the Payroll Lead role to have strong knowledge and experience in payroll operations, deployment, and implementation of payroll project in at least one of the 4 regions i.e.

North America, LATAM, EMEA and ASPAC regions towards building and operationalize HUB capabilities.

The Payroll Lead will have strong communication skills to communicate across a broad spectrum of stakeholders:

interpreting complex payroll policy and procedures and providing direction to third party payroll providers on decisions made related to payroll administration.

The Payroll Lead role will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of payroll requirements, practices, and procedures for the country and ensuring accurate and updated documentation of these requirements.

Strong people management, agility, and decision making are critical for this role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll project implementation, transition, and continuous improvements.
  • Serve as a Payroll Lead for the assigned workstream during different phases of the project like testing, data management, process documentation etc.
  • Provides payroll operational expertise to sustain an effective operational model in compliance with company policies as well as statutory and legal requirements.
  • Collaboration with HR incountry, regional hubs, GPO and other stakeholders across the organization and other functions.
  • Provide expertise on payroll calculation process with thirdparty payroll provider.
  • Support the development of internal and external communications for specific payroll processes.
  • Ability to perform reporting and remittances such as month end, quarter end and year end payroll returns.
  • Supports the creation of annual payroll calendar, payroll elements and yearend updates.
  • Make recommendations to Payroll Manager on payroll topics for countries in the region.
  • Liaison with payroll vendor (TPV) regarding upgrades/changes to payroll system when required.
  • Execute, in accordance with globally established standards, processes for SOX compliance, internal controls, and required regulatory/statutory requirements.
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality, data protection assurance, conformity with J&J policies, procedures, external regulations, and agencies.
  • Update and maintain payroll process and administration documentation.
  • Serve as the owner for audits (both internal and external).
  • Coach and mentor payroll staff level resources in the cluster.
  • Support crossfunctional projects with payroll dependency.

Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of prior experience in payroll operations and payroll project implementation for at least one of the 4 regions (North America, LATAM, EMEA and ASPAC) is required
  • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role is required.
  • Prior experience leading a team and demonstrable ability to motivate and manage a team is required.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing in at least one of the 4 region (North America, LATAM, EMEA and ASPAC) is required (processes, regulations, vendor landscape, etc.).
  • Payroll certification is preferred (e.g. CPP, CFP).
  • Strong English language verbal and written communication skills is required. In addition, Verbal and written proficiency in Portuguese is preferred.
  • Strong research and problemsolving skills required.
  • Ability to think strategically, make recommendations to leadership, and in some cases, serve as the decisionmaker for payroll administration topics.
  • Ability to think tactically, quickly adapt to situations, and address daytoday operational challenges.
  • Cultural awareness and an ability to work with a multitude of people across multiple markets assigned.
  • Prior experience with payroll processes as well as month end, quarter
