Acumen Academy in Colombia is hiring a Community Associate with 3-6 years experience in project management, relationship management, and community management to help us engage and develop our community of Fellows, continue running our various accompaniment strategies and track and report our progress.

This role is based anywhere in Colombia._

The Community Associate will be joining a small team responsible for running the Fellows Program in Colombia.


About the Colombian Fellows Program

About the Role

The
Community Associate
will operationalize the accompaniment strategy for the Fellows after they finish the first year of the Fellows Program.

This will include working directly with our Fellows, with the Fellows Program Manager, and with our global team. The role is full of opportunities for proactivity, execution, and creativity.

We are looking for a self-starter who has experience building communities and delivering impactful results, a natural community builder, who is able to create meaningful relationships wherever he/she/they go.

This role reports directly to the Associate Director of Acumen Academy in Colombia.


Accountabilities include:
Handling the community management and partnerships building in service of deepening the Fellows impact

  • Manage and engage the growing Acumen Fellows Community in the country (~100 now and ~120 by mid 2024), creating strong crosscohort connections and collaborations
  • Sustain, develop and manage relationships with Colombia Fellows to understand their needs and maintain a pulse on their current challenges and opportunities for connection
  • Give continuity to the needs assessment of the Fellows community, design programming that responds to such needs (from small initiatives to more longstanding, intensive programs)
  • Support the Fellows community as needed in their self organized activities
  • Design and deliver our Colombia Fellows engagement and communications initiatives e.g. community newsletters, WhatsApp updates, communications, events
  • Design and deliver opportunities that support Colombia Fellows after the Fellowship year e.g. access to training, tools, funding, platforms, opportunities. This might imply identifying the various resources and connections Acumen, as well as Acumen's community (Fellows locally and globally, Acumen staff and Acumen partners), can offer to Fellows
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with other companies and organizations that would benefit Acumen's Fellows as individuals and as a collective
Program Impact Reporting

  • Track data and stories of the value of belonging to the Fellows' community and create reports for funders
  • Provide information and stories for Acumen's newsletter, blogs, and internal meetings
  • Support in the writing of the Fellows program grant reports and impact reports
Manage a pilot (already launched) to provide funds for collaborations among Fellows who have graduated from the program

  • Acumen has USD 50,000 available to give (in differing amounts) to select Fellows who are collaborating with each other on compelling projects after they finish their Fellowship year. This is a first generation pilot. We are testing this. The project has been co created with the Fellows and we need you to take the lead in managing it
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of procedures and guidelines for grants administration
  • Accurately maintain official grant files, records, and supporting documentation
  • Assist in regularly scheduled and adhoc financial and grant related reports

Skills and Qualifications
years of experience

  • Fluent in English and Spanish; able to speak and write clearly in both
  • Strong Excel and data management/analysis skills; ability to track money dispersed and data on program, report when asked, use data to inform strategies, make decisions and build budgets
  • Proactive, willing to test hypotheses, experiment, and innovate. We
