Senior Windows Engineer/Azure DevOps Engineer (Migration Specialist)


Company Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Windows Engineer to spearhead a critical migration project from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2012 or later versions, and to facilitate the transition from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based solutions, particularly Azure.

As a Senior Windows Engineer (Migration Specialist), you will be responsible for leading and executing the migration of several Windows Server 2008 systems to Windows Server 2012 or later versions, with a focus on critical infrastructure components such as file servers, print servers, terminal servers, and other relevant systems.

This role will require a blend of technical expertise in Windows administration, Active Directory, Azure, and DevOps practices.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of the migration project, ensuring mínimal disruption to operations and maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to assess current infrastructure, identify migration requirements, and develop migration strategies.
  • Perform handson migration tasks, including but not limited to server provisioning, configuration, testing, and validation.
  • Utilize DevOps principles and practices to automate deployment processes, streamline workflows, and enhance overall system reliability.
  • Provide expertise in Active Directory management, including user provisioning, group policy administration, and security configuration.
  • Implement Azure solutions for cloudbased services, including infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) offerings.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement solutions to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Document migration procedures, configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Windows administration, cloud computing, and DevOps methodologies.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Windows server administration, with a focus on migration projects.
  • Proven experience in migrating Windows Server 2008 systems to Windows Server 2012 or later versions.
  • Strong proficiency in Active Directory management, including domain controllers, group policies, and DNS configuration.
  • Extensive knowledge of Azure cloud services, including VMs, storage, networking, and security.
  • Handson experience with DevOps tools and practices, such as PowerShell scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure certifications) are highly desirable.
