JOB PURPOSE:
The Iron Technician Senior provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components. This position works in both field/mobile sites and assigned SPM service centers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist Iron Technicians during the disassemble phase
  • Clean strip and inspect all required flow control components
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections
  • Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Ability to identify all products
  • Assemble flow control product
  • Manifold tear down/rebuild trainee
  • Inventory of customer product
  • Demonstrated ability to perform UT (Ultra Sonic Thickness) inspections and gauge inspections
  • High pressure hydrostatic testing of customer flow control product
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble customer manifolds
  • Ability to read and navigate customer standards
  • Understand customer requirements throughout the entire refurbishment of flow control product
  • Demonstrated ability to perform final inspection
  • Can mentor fellow technicians on the refurbishment process
  • Proficient with a computer and the WEIR AMP system
  • Process incoming iron starts to finish. Able to accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment,
- load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, process SPM certificates,
- and deliver notes (without supervision)

  • Prepare all reports as per SPM Standards
  • Process all SPM customer requirements
  • Perform MPI Testing (MPI Certification Required)
  • Basic Understanding of SPM Pumps
  • Experienced in Other Manufacturers' Treating Iron
  • Responsible for painting components per customer specifications
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area
  • Assists with customers as needed
  • Monitors daily work activities to ensure requirements are met
  • Effectively demonstrate the core values of SPM Oil & Gas at all times
  • Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance
  • Exhibit and advocate for exemplary safety culture always
  • Maintain flow of customer product through the shop
  • Quality control of customer flow control product
  • Proficient in customer relations
  • When the manager/supervisor is not present, assigns duties to complete all necessary daily service center work
  • Assists workers in resolving technical problems
  • Consults with technical personnel and managers/supervisors to report and resolve assembly and testing problems, and reports unresolved problems
  • Obtains and distributes supplies, materials, and equipment such as components and parts used for work, assembly, test and inspection specifications. Test equipment, fixtures, and hand tools
  • Reports on substandard equipment performance to supervisor or maintenance personnel
  • Substitutes for absent workers and assists workers to alleviate work overload
  • Understand all customer contractual requirements
  • Knowledge of Syteline: Transfer Orders, Receiving Order, Customer Estimates
Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.


BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
  • Noise Level: Moderate
