Ixent Galpin

I am currently Coordinator of Data Engineering and Analytics Masters programme at Jorge Tadeo University in Bogotá, Colombia.  I am passionate about data science and machine learning technologies.  I speak English/Spanish fluently and hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester.

• Broad range of experience in software development, having worked on research projects from database query optimizers to recommender systems.  
• Proficiency with various languages including Java (6+ years), Python (3+ years), R (2+ years) and Haskell (1+ years); enjoys learning new technologies or languages that may be well-suited for a problem domain.
• Experience in data science projects applying machine learning models in various domains (financial, education, e-commerce)
• Proven track record mentoring others; has taught courses on programming in Java and Haskell, relational databases, NoSQL databases, and also supervised Masters-level projects.

• PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester (UK); proficient technical writer and author of numerous scientific papers.
