AsaSeniorAgile ProgramManager(APM)for BlackboardsShared Services Process Enablement team,youwill have the opportunity to leadand contribute tocriticaloperational and strategicinitiatives within theProduct Development and Delivery(PDD)organization.Process Enablement team seeks to reduce waste by providing PDD with practices, data and supporting tools designed to enhance efficiency and empower self:organization to achieve strategic outcomes. We do this through the execution and guidance of project management and Agile practices, and most recently have begun aScaled Agile Framework (SAFe)transformation at the team and portfolio level.
TheSeniorAPM will serve as a key member of Blackboards Agile Program Management Office (APMO) and support our organizationsSAFetransformation activities.This position serves as a liaison betweenglobally distributedSenior Leadership,portfolio andproduct leadership, and otherinternal Blackboard stakeholders.This position willsupportourBlackboardportfoliosthrough theimplementation of lean portfolio management(LPM)practicesand supporttheProcess Enablement teamindriving adoption ofproject andprogram managementandAgilepractices acrossPDD.
To be successful in this role, you will use your ability to lead and collaborate on large, complex, cross functional projectsandinitiatives. You would add additional value to the role by having knowledge and experiencein bothproject management andAgilepractices, especially experience inadvocating forboth disciplines andguidingteams through change.The Senior APM is anew rolefor Blackboard, so youll need to be comfortablemanaging through change and ambiguity,adapting toemerging guidanceand direction,and offeringrecommendations to help shape theAPMO andimplementation of LPM practices at Blackboard.Knowledge and experience working in aSAFeenvironment is most welcome.
This position works under the guidance of theAPMO lead.
Specific responsibilities will include:
: Championingeffective project management and Agile practices designed to enable teams and portfolios to succeed and to advance our organizations maturity and business agility
: Driving operational excellence and cultivatingsuccessfulportfolio and program execution through the implementation of lean portfolio management practices
: Leading and collaborating on large, cross functional projects/initiativesand process improvement efforts
: Leveraging a lean:Agile mindset to influence parties within and outside the organization regarding policies, practices, and procedures
: Prioritizing and driving projectsand initiativesto conclusion based upon business priorities
: Managingportfoliosthrough thePortfolio Kanban processandcommunicatingonprogress andexecutionvia establishedleanmetrics
: Identifying and managingcross:teamandproject dependencies and helping teams mitigate risks in schedule and scope
: Advancing and achieving outcomes through leadership, collaboration, and a willingness to listen and learn The Candidate:
: 5+ years working in a program/project management role managing multipleconcurrentlarge:scaleprograms and/orprojects
: Solid understandingofAgileprinciples and at least one Agile methodology
: Understanding of and experience implementing lean governance practices (e.g., lean portfolio management, Agile portfolio operations, participatory budgeting
