About the role:


As a Collections Manager specializing in the merchant cash advance field in the US, specifically catering to gig economy workers, you will be crucial in managing and optimizing the collections process.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the timely recovery of outstanding debts while maintaining positive customer relationships within the unique context of gig economy work.

You will lead a team of collection agents, develop strategies, and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve collection targets.


What you will do:


  • Team Leadership and Management:
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of collection agents focused on gig economy clients.
  • Set clear performance targets, provide coaching and training, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment that encourages team collaboration and professional growth.
  • Collection Strategies and Planning:
  • Develop, implement, and refine collection strategies tailored to the gig economy sector, considering the fluctuating income patterns and payment preferences of gig workers.
  • Collaborate with data analytics teams to analyze trends, customer behavior, and performance metrics to optimize collection strategies.
  • Customer Communication and Relationship Management:
  • Establish and maintain respectful and effective communication channels with gig economy workers, understanding their unique financial circumstances and challenges.
  • Handle sensitive and difficult conversations professionally, using empathy and problemsolving skills to negotiate suitable payment arrangements.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
  • Stay uptodate with industry regulations and compliance requirements related to debt collection, ensuring all practices are in accordance with relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Work closely with legal teams to manage accounts that require escalated actions or potential legal proceedings.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of communication, payment agreements, and any pertinent customer information.
  • Generate regular reports detailing collection performance, trends, and insights for senior management review.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the collections process, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT and technology teams to leverage automation and digital tools for streamlined collections.
  • Crossfunctional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with sales, customer service, and other departments within the company to provide insights and feedback contributing to overall business growth and customer satisfaction.

What you bring:


  • At least 5 years of collections management experience
  • Preferred to have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in collections management, preferably in the merchant cash advance or finance sector.
  • Strong understanding of gig economy dynamics, payment platforms, and income patterns.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficiency in using collection management software and tools.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
