Position:
Real Estate Accountant
We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Real Estate Accountant to join our growing US-based tech-enabled real estate company.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of bookkeeping and financials for our 150+ unit (and growing) portfolio.
Our furnished and co-living products are in high demand: we need someone who can take ownership, helping deliver exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Tracking, Analysis, Planning & Actions (TAPA)
- Track firm's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for financial metrics (e.g. brokerage and mgmt income). Daily accuracy, monthly reports
- Track propertybyproperty KPI (e.g. income & Expense; # of maintenance requests; leasing and renewal stats), daily accuracy and monthly reporting
- Keep Notion Internal Wiki updated for all areas related to Bookkeeping & Accounting, as well as security deposit refunds/other moneyrelated aspects of the company
Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP & AR)
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Prepare and execute bank reconciliations
- Handle Cash Flow Management
- Resolve issues regarding billing
- Follow up with outstanding AR balances (e.g. tenants) and escalate to next phase (legal / NoticetoQuit / NoticetoTerminate)
- Reconcile to the General Ledger
- Conduct monthly and annual payroll returns
Vendor Setup + Payment + Management
- Keep complete list of vendors with W9 forms infile and accurate vendor ledgers
- Interface with utilities for uptodate list of accounts and epay information
- Interface with housing authorities for (1) uptodate payment information and (2) handling renewal requests to bring rents up to market, coordinating inspection with Maintenance
- Interface with other vendors in similar fashion to above. Keep vendors accountable for job completion verification prior to payment release
File & Data Management
- Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Prepare general ledger and quarterly reports for the management summarizing transactions across multiple categories
- Prepare propertylevel monthly budgets
- Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns under supervision of a manager if required
- Any other adhoc duties assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience with US based real estate business (e.g. residential/multifamily/hospitality)
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Knowledge in US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- USbased customer service experience
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Reliable internet/WiFi and quiet workspace
- Impeccable written and spoken English
- This person speaks fluent English, has great attention to detail, a strong interest in learning and someone who can think for themselves
Payment
- Base monthly salary is $1,500 USD
- Payments are processed and sent via Wise or similar platform at an established frequency (bimonthly)
Schedule:
- 8:00 am to 6:00 pm EDT (Monday through Friday)
- Some weekend work should be expected, during peak season (Q1: yearend financial review + tax season; July + August: heavy movein/moveout activities)
Pay:
$6,503,438 per month
