GGGI is seeking a Sectoral Mitigation Senior Associate to support the implementation of the SPAR6C Project in Colombia.

S/he will be part of the GGGI Colombia Team and report to the Senior Officer -Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager.


PURPOSE:

GGGI is seeking a Sectoral Mitigation Senior Associate to support the implementation of the SPAR6C Project in Colombia.

S/he will be part of the GGGI Colombia Team and report to the Senior Officer -Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager.


Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide operational support to the Senior Officer
  • Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager and team to ensure successful delivery of the SPAR6C in Colombia
  • Contribute to the completion of and followup activities to the readiness and needs assessment.
  • Support Senior Officer
  • Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager for seamless information gathering and compilation on Article 6 Strategy, A6 Guidebooks and the Community of Practice of A6 Implementing Countries (CoP-ASIC).
  • Provide technical advisory and capacity building support to the Government of Colombia around mitigation activities, carbon markets, and issues related to measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) and carbon accounting.
  • Support the Support Senior Officer
  • Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager to the preparation and compilation of periodic SPAR6C reports to global program manager and the government as needed.
  • Contribute to the design, preparation, and implementation of trainings, workshops, focus group discussions, and consultation meetings related to the SPAR6C objectives in Colombia.
  • Keep abreast with new developments in climate change mitigation and carbon markets globally and in Colombia.
  • Lead the prioritization, longlisting and shortlisting of potential mitigation activities for Article 6 implementation in Colombia.

ENGAGEMENT:


  • Works closely (potentially embedded) with national counterparts to acquire information/knowledge and to develop cooperative relationships as an effective partner for policy delivery, particularly with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and other relevant environmentrelated institutions.
  • Articulate GGGI ́s engagement with Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and other relevant related institutions under the orientation of the project manager.
  • Engage in stakeholder mapping and participate in and facilitate discussions between government and various stakeholders across the Program.
  • Develop strong technical networks among other institutional, private sector partners and stakeholders that could support and facilitate GGGI ́s delivery, scalability and impact.
  • Participate in GGGI's CPU and SPAR6C consortium meetings and events and represent the Colombia project team as necessary.
  • Participate in GGGIwide events to create awareness about the GGGI Carbon Pricing Unit and Colombia Program and their activities.
  • Advise the Senior Officer
  • Policy Coordinator and Colombia SPAR6C Program Manager about opportunities and risks identified during the project implementation.

DELIVERY:


  • Provide technical advisory support to government counterparts on climate change mitigation and carbon markets,
  • Develop and compile recommendations for the update of various government policies and regulations related to carbon markets in Colombia.
  • Provide targeted input on carbon markets and sectoral mitigation actions on the energy, transportation, industry, buildings and waste sectors to GGGI's SPAR6C team and the GGGI Colombia program.
  • Support the preparation of periodic reporting to GGGI HQ and the donor.
  • Monitor on issues related to Article 6, carbon markets, mitigation actions, and related topics to support policy and technical advisory products.
  • Monitor delivery issues and identifies potential solutions in consultation with key national counterparts to build common understanding and implementation of project activities.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure consistent/appropriate use of resources, delivery proceeding on schedule and operational demands are within SPAR6C and GGGI guidelines.
  • Support and/or lead the organization of the trainings, workshops, consultations, and focus group discussions with key stakeholders related to the objectives of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental sciences, Geography, Economics, basic sciences or related fields is required
  • A Master's degree in relevant fields such as environmental management, sustainable development, climate change mitigation, data sciences, engineering, project management or related fields is an advanta
