Reporting directly to the Global Process Owner, BP, this role is accountable for managing all in-scope ERP projects and operational support across the SBD Global Landscape.

Business Partner Data Analyst (vendor and customer data) ensures that requirements are met with consistency, identifies gaps in process execution, and provides increased value to the Enterprise Data Strategy organization and business partners.


At Stanley Black & Decker (SBD), we are mainly an SAP and Oracle/Hyperion shop, but there will be plenty of locations that have alternative systems, especially on the ERP side.

The second biggest system from an ERP perspective is JD Edwards.

GSS - Global Operation & Strategy team is an integral part of the organization and serves as a liaison between Business Unit Controllers (BUC's), Information Technology (IT), Global Shared Services (GSS), Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Chief Accounting Office (CAO) and the Competency Center (CC).


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for understanding the Master Data Structure for all inscope ERP Applications (Customer and Vendor).
  • Accountable for understanding the Master Data Structure for Non-ERP Global Applications (Data Catalogs, MDM Tools) and how these Global Applications impact the SBD SAP ERP environments.
  • Accountable for analyzing and establishing the Customer and Vendor Data Playbooks.
  • Drive and Develop Process Improvements on key Data/Risk areas.
  • Understand Governance model and ownership of master data for inscope instances, including proposals for centralization and process changes.
  • Provide support to the business partners on ERP and nonERP financial structure decisions and requirements related to projects, acquisitions, conversions, reporting needs.
  • Maintain guidelines, playbook documents and other common sites that provide information to our customers.
  • Coordinate benchmarking with peer and nonpeer companies (through Hackett, Gartner, and CEB groups).
  • Support Data Governance & Enterprise Data Strategy efforts as required.
  • Understand maintenance process (Creation, Change, Deletion, etc) and propose improvements to the Operation and Business Teams.
  • Work closely with Operations & Strategy team to ensure alignment and implement the MDM best practices.
  • Connect with the GSS Operations & Strategy Team team to define processes and solutions that will impact the MDM operation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to learn Stanley's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Non-ERP systems.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, business operation, and processes.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multitask and highly organized.
  • Excellent problem identification, prioritization, and remediation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills including data mining, analysis, trending and writing accompanying commentary.
  • Understanding of sound internal control activities and practices.
  • Project management experience.
  • Well versed in data governance best practices Ability to think strategically while operating tactically to implement a Global solution.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's in business/engineering with 3+ years of experience OR equivalent combination of experience and education required.
  • Data expertise related to the customer and vendor master data domains Experience on an ERP implementation or business transformation program Knowledge of master data governance and data management principles and concepts.
