Position Summary:


The Human Resources Specialist's primary function is to work as a supportive and cooperative Human Resources team member providing the best potential customer service, with specific knowledge in the administration activities of the Human Resources department.

The Human Resources Specialist will provide information to employees regarding regulations and policies, providing general support, addressing a broad variety of issues, maintaining files, databases, records of actions of personnel, evaluations, and tenure.


Duties and Responsabilities:


  • Support all recruiting initiatives for the Medellin office.
  • Coordinate job posts, review resumes, and interview applicants.
  • Coordinate with staffing agencies when additional recruiting support is needed.
  • Communicate with hiring managers and VP of HR throughout the recruiting process.
  • Administer background checks and employment testing.
  • Manage and coordinate an effective onboarding process for all Medellin based hires. Provide support as needed for the global onboarding process.
  • Provide new employees with all the necessary information about the organizational structure, functions, objectives of the company, policy, and objectives of the quality of their job, facilitating the adaptation of the worker and his participation and active identification in the company.
  • Present company history and background information to all new hires during their first week.
  • Communicate across departments to ensure that teams are prepared for arrival of new hires.
  • Schedule welcome sessions for new hires to meet key employees.
  • Work with new employees to ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with Payroll to get new hires set up in payroll system.
  • Provide regular updates and feedback to the VP of HR regarding onboarding processes and make suggestions for improvements to the process.
  • Maintain employee records for all Medellin based staff and keep all systems updated.
  • Process new hires, transfers, promotions, and separations.
  • Ensure that employee files are up to date with all necessary documentation.
  • Communicate with other departments, employees, applicants, administrators, and staff provides information and assistance regarding recruitment, transfers, employment, and personnel records.
  • Prepare and safeguard employment contracts, privacy notice and other mandatory documentation for the proper integration of the employee's file.
  • Keep track, control and administration of the labor liabilities of active personnel such as vacations, loans, bonuses, profits, social benefits ,in order to comply with the employer's obligations established by law.
  • Maintain all records related to COVID19 including vaccination cards and records of positive tests.
  • Manage all employee relations matters and employee discipline related to the Medellin staff.
  • Participate in all termination meetings and créate necessary documentation.
  • Communicate with VP of HR as needed on employee discipline and departures.
  • Hold exit interviews with any employees who Leave voluntarily. Track separation data and provide to the VP of HR.
  • Coordinate and control the discharge process for the transition of personnel, either by dismissal, voluntary retirement or termination of contract, as established in the Federal Labor Law in Colombia.
  • Support all training and development initiatives for Medellin employees.
  • Assist VP of HR with implementing training programs that will help to develop and retain staff.
  • Work closely with the VP of HR to evaluate the ongoing training needs of staff and managers.
  • Support employee morale initiatives to help keep staff engaged.
  • Present ideas for ways to boost the morale of Medellin based employees.
  • Act as liaison for Medellin staff, keeping them informed of company wide updates, contests and general information. Report back to VP of HR with any feedback from employees.
  • Support Via Social content.
  • Stay informed in everything related to the updating of the Medellin labor legal framework. Attend to and clarify any requirement of the authorities.
  • Ensure that Medellin compensation programs are in line with local markets and industries.
  • Participate in regular benchmarking of compensation and work with VP of HR to make adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor annual changes to the local mínimum wage.
