    We are in search of a Senior Database Engineer to bolster the Linux infrastructure in Telesign Operations as we construct a highly virtualized and distributed transactional platform. The Operations team, in collaboration with development and release engineering teams, adopts an Agile DevOps approach to enhance the quality, consistency, and efficiency of TeleSign's products and infrastructure deployments.

    The Operations team is a mix of professionals from the US, Belgrade, Serbia, and Colombia. Team members must be meticulous, make sound risk management-based decisions, and offer innovative, dependable problem-solving solutions. Ideal candidates will bring solid DevOps experience and proven Linux skills to the table. They should be self-driven, showing enthusiasm for research and completing tasks independently or within cross-organizational teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Play a crucial role in Production Support with 24/7 responsibilities, collaborating with the Global Operations team to maintain 99.99% uptime.
    • Carry out database administration for Windows Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Handle DB activities such as installation, deployment, maintenance, performance tuning, troubleshooting, backups/restores, and proactive monitoring to flag issues to the Technology Operations team.
    • Support Developers with database queries, table design, and performance suggestions, particularly within high transaction volume projects.
    • Act as the DB expert alongside senior technical staff to ensure highly available and reliable DB platforms for the business.
    • Offer consultative support to individuals less versed in DBs and their capabilities.
    • Extra points for experience with PowerShell, SSIS, SSAS, Reporting Services.

    Essential Requirements

    • Hold a University Degree in applied sciences or showcase equivalent work experience demonstrating technical expertise.
    • At least 4 years of database experience on Linux systems, working with MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, or Cassandra.
    • Expertise in resolving DB issues, performance problems, and native monitoring tools.
    • Knowledge of Performance Tuning, Disaster Recovery, High Availability, backup/recovery, and replication.
    • Familiarity with indexes, index management, and statistics.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with MSSQL, AWS DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, S3 Queries.
    • Working knowledge of MySQL and Postgres is an advantage.
    • Proven experience as the primary DB resource.
    • Background in a fast-paced, agile development environment, especially with SaaS or cloud-based products.
    • Some exposure to scripting for operational automation related to DB tasks.
    • Understanding of Internet security concepts and familiarity with voice telecom and SMS messaging terms.
    • Ability to educate others on DB usage and BI concepts.
    • Basic grasp of BI concepts and MS BI tools.
