The Iron Technician I provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components. This position works in both field/mobile sites and assigned SPM service centers.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist Iron Technicians during the disassemble phase
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections
  • Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Ability to identify and differentiate product and components
  • Ability to assemble flow control product
  • Nondestructive testing Trainee
  • Manifold tear down/rebuild Trainee
  • Proficient in tear down/rebuild of manifolds
  • Inventory of customer product
  • Ability to perform gauge inspections
  • Ability to perform high pressure hydrostatic testing of customer flow control product
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble customer manifolds
  • Knowledge of SPM products and the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of customer standards
  • Proficient with a computer and the SPM AMP system
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools and equipment and continually maintains and cleans and organized work area
  • Responsible for painting components per customer specifications
  • Monitors daily work activities to ensure requirements are met
  • Effectively demonstrate the core values of SPM Oil & Gas at all times
  • Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance
  • Exhibit and advocate for exemplary safety culture at all times
Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.


BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
  • Noise Level: Moderate
