The role involves making substantive contributions to Control Risks' analytical coverage of the Andean region for a range of subscription products; conducting major consulting projects; delivering briefings directly to clients; supporting business development initiatives; providing expert commentary to media and participating in conferences and other events.

The role will require close collaboration with Control Risks' teams of investigators, crisis and security consultants and business developers.


Responsibilities:


  • General_
  • Maintaining a high level of expertise on the Andean region through reading, desktop research, attendance at seminars and engaging networks of sources.
  • Online services_
  • Researching and writing of frequent updates for Control Risks' suite of online subscription services on relevant developments in the Andean region.
  • Responding to subscriber and client queries pertaining to the Andean region.
  • Customized reports and consulting projects_
  • Undertaking research for tailored reports and projects under the direction of senior members of the political risk consulting team for the Americas.
  • Writing customized risk assessments for individual clients or contributing to wider consultancy projects.
  • Assisting analysts and consultants in scoping proposals for tailored consultancy work.
  • Marketing and business development_
  • Contributing to business development activities, including client briefings, meetings and virtual presentations.
  • Supporting account managers through contextual input to business development initiatives and showcasing analytical talent to individual clients.
  • Networking and sources_
  • Liaising regularly with fellow analysts and consultants across the region.
  • Developing and maintaining a network of intelligence sources, including subcontractors and stringers.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree from a major university or college
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight and often multiple deadlines
  • At least 12 years of experience working in a related and/or relevant role.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of political, integrity, security, social and operational risks in the Andean region.
  • Academic or professional training in political risk and/or political analysis.
  • Familiarity with businessfocused research.
