- A minimum two years' experience in producing short-format hard news and news feature packages for web and broadcast
- First-rate social media skills and experience of sourcing UGC

THE JOB
AFPTV is hiring an English-language video producer based in Bogotá and reporting to the regional AFP headquarters in Montevideo, that will handle a wide variety of news and features from across Latin America and North America.
Fast-paced and exciting, the job involves producing and editing hard news production -either from VJ on the ground or from LIVE feeds -, features, and lighter stories for broadcast clients, working under the supervision of AFPTV's regional coordinator and AFP's regional chief editors for Latin America.
Sharp writing and narrating skills for short-format video packages are essential to the role, as are excellent shooting skills and a keen eye for the visual.
The job requires a multimedia ethos, working closely with the regional text, photo and graphics departments.
You will have to ensure the reliability of the news covered. You should be familiar with the issues involved
in handling user generated content and AFP's guidelines concerning the use of UGC.
You should bring a multi-media approach to the job and expect to coordinate closely with text reporters and photographers.
You must be ready to work a wide range of hours, including early mornings and late nights, as well as weekends.
It is important to stress that all AFP journalists contribute to AFP's newsgathering process in all formats, working for the common goal of reacting and high-quality multimedia journalism. We do not work by silo or by product. Text journalists may write for the wire, but their journalism is vital for video dope sheets, picture captions and graphics. Our visual journalists also play a significant role in the gathering of information for the text wires.
Planning being a fundamental part of your remit, you will ensure that events on AFP's integrated calendar system Iris360 are up to date to enable our clients and bureaus to plan for upcoming news events and their coverage.
As a general rule, you commit to respecting AFP's ethics charter as well as all the editorial guidelines in force and in AFP's stylebook. In addition, candidates should be familiar with the issues involved in handling user generated content and AFP's guidelines concerning the use of UGC.
You will closely monitor social media and strictly adhere to the Agency's guidelines on social media activity. You will contribute to the fight against misinformation by helping journalists that work on digital verification in the network and ensure you are trained in the various methods of online investigation, now indispensable for all journalists.
In addition, candidates should be familiar with the issues involved in handling user-generated content - respecting AFP's editorial guidelines for the use of social networks. You will contribute to the fight against misinformation by helping factcheckers in the network and generally supporting the development of digital investigation. You will ensure that you receive training in the various methods of online verification, now indispensable for all journalists. Online training is available here.
